We noticed that many of our boutique and family-run hotels were offering gift certificates as an alternative to refunds when guests needed to cancel their reservations. This approach works particularly well when the guest has violated the cancellation policy, allowing hotels to maintain goodwill while preventing revenue loss.
However, we realized our discount code system wasn’t flexible enough to support this use case properly. Specifically, there was no way to create a discount code that would become invalid after a single use – a surprising oversight that forced our clients to find workarounds for managing gift certificates.
We’re happy to announce that this issue has now been fixed! When creating a discount code or gift certificate, you can now enable the “Single-use code” option. Once a guest uses this code for a booking (either through our online booking module or via hotel staff), the system will automatically mark it as “used” and prevent any further applications.
This enhancement allows you to offer gift certificates confidently, knowing they can’t be reused multiple times.
